New Baby Elephants!

We are very excited to report 2 new babies to the Ugab herds over the last couple of weeks.  Over the past 6 years there has a been a very high level of calf mortality amongst the Ugab herds, so lets hope this burst of births is changing that cycle.

Carissa has been born to the herd G6 on or around 23/10/09.  This is the second baby for this herd in the last 2 months, Tremor, so called as he was born during the earthquake that hit the area in September, is fighting fit and very happy to have a playmate no doubt!

Cynthia was born to the Ugab Small herd (US) around 30/10/09.  We really hope this calf will survive as the herd has not had a successful birth in many years.
